One meal is not an indication of your habits, so you shouldn’t feel guilty about indulging when the majority of the time your habits align with improving your health. That’s why Shapa uses a color feedback system based on the direction your habits are trending.

Shapa uses a 5-color feedback system:

Dark Gray, Light Gray, Green, Teal, and Blue.

In general, green represents that we are maintaining. For the weigh-in, it is maintaining your weight. For mindful eating, it is maintaining your eating habits.

Light gray indicates we are starting to regress and dark gray that we have regressed.

Teal indicates we are starting to improve and blue indicates we have improved.

For mindful eating, you will receive a color for both hunger and fullness after each log.

Think of your hunger color as your “why am I eating” color.

This will signal you to recognize if you are eating because you are hungry or for some other reason such as convenience, emotion, or habit.

If you begin eating for some reason other than hunger more often than normal, you will begin to receive light gray. If that pattern continues, it will become dark gray.

On the flip side, if you improve your eating habits to only eat out of hunger, you will begin to receive teal and blue.

Overall, a hunger color of green or better is considered a win!

Think of your fullness color as your “how much am I eating” color. Often we continue to eat well beyond feeling full.

If you continue to eat to a level beyond fullness more often than normal, you will begin to receive a fullness color of light gray. If that pattern continues, it will become dark gray.

On the flip side, if you improve your eating habits to stop eating when satisfied and not stuffed, you will begin to receive teal and blue.

A fullness color of green or better is also a win!

The hunger and fullness colors are designed to provide you with quick real time feedback on the direction your eating habits are trending.

The combination of mindfully assessing your hunger and fullness around each meal with Shapa’s color feedback system showing you the direction your habits are trending will prepare you to be both happy and healthy while achieving your long-term goals.
